Okay, from what I gather you should be able to modify a text file and then re-run the command you tried before. Run the following to open the text file in an editor called gedit: gedit /etc/resolv.conf Then add a line in the nameserver 8.8.8.8 Save the file, close the file, and then rerun the awips_install command. This file needs to be edited as root. If you are still logged into root you will see "root@localhost" as the prefix in your command line. Try that and let me know how it goes. --Shay Carter Software Engineer II UCAR - Unidata Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: AEJ-967615 Department: Support AWIPS Priority: High Status: Open =================== NOTE: All email exchanges with Unidata User Support are recorded in the Unidata inquiry tracking system and then made publicly available through the web.
