Hi Mike, I think significant development has been made on the cloud edex in the most recent past (last year or so). I don't know for sure since it was before I started working here, but I assume it is more functional and faster now than the last time you played around with it. I'm glad I could help and offer some answers to your questions. One other thing -- I just sent out an email to our awips2-users email list introducing myself and asking our users to fill out a really quick survey so we could get a better understanding of how our users are using AWIPS. I looked over the email addresses in the mailing list and didn't see yours in there. If you wouldn't mind, it might be really useful if you and your students (once the lab is up and running) fill out the survey, and add yourself to our mailing list. The survey is located at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdBajoP0lxVeQEGBLQ0vM2Ng4Fms8JuHncMd2Ch5djxfLlQDg/viewform And the awips2-users mailing list can be subscribed to from this page: https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/support/index.html#mailinglists This mailing list is the best way I have of contacting the community and might be useful for you and/or your schools met lab.
