You should have executed the command "make" before the command "make
install".

You need to tell the C compiler what Fortran calling-conventions to
use when compiling the Fortran interface by defining a certain C macro
before executing the configure script. If you do not need a Fortran
interface, then you should define the "generic" macro "f2cFortran";
otherwise, you should look at the examples in the file INSTALL in the
top-level source directory to see what macro to define.
Please try the following:
1. Go to the top-level source-directory.
2. Perform steps 3 through 5 described near the end of the file
INSTALL.
3. Ensure that the Fortran-defining C macro is defined, e.g.,
export CPPFLAGS='-Df2cFortran -UNDEBUG'
or
setenv CPPFLAGS '-Df2cFortran -UNDEBUG'
depending on your user-shell and whether or not you need a
Fortran interface.
4. Perform steps 6 through 9 described near the end of the file
INSTALL.
