Greetings! I'm sure there's a reason, but I have no idea what it is. I've checked and we're not receiving any omega (VVEL) fields for the HRRR, nor do I see any in the AWS S3 HRRR archive online. This seems to agree with the last service change notice from the NWS on the HRRR, which only mentions a 700 hPa vertical velocity (DZDT): https://www.weather.gov/media/notification/pdf2/scn20-46rapv5_hrrr_v4aab.pdf So I'd say you have to take it up with NCEP, since we can only share what we receive. ;) Cheers!
