Hi Rich, I took a look, and the short answer is "no," there is not a CDM validation service beyond gridded data. However, this is something that we should implement, so it is now achieved JIRA ticket (TDS-376) status: https://bugtracking.unidata.ucar.edu/browse/TDS-376 Thanks, Lansing > TDS folks, > Is there a CDM validation service for Discrete Sampling Geometry CDM > featureTypes? > (profile, time series, etc) > > The CDM Validation service: > http://motherlode.ucar.edu:8080/cdmvalidator/validate.html > linked from the TDS page: > https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/projects/THREDDS/tech/TDS.html#CDM_Coordinate_System_Validator > seems to be from TDS 4.0, and validates grids but not discrete > sampling geometry. > > The "download the latest cdmvalidation.war file" link points to: > ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/thredds/4.0/cdmvalidator.war > ftp> cd /pub/thredds/4.0 > ftp> ls > -rwxrw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 3939 Aug 31 2009 CHANGES.txt > -rwxrw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 1177 Aug 31 2009 README.txt > -rwxrw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 14677873 Mar 24 2009 cdmvalidator.war > drwxrwxr-x 2 ftp ftp 512 Jul 20 2009 old > drwxrwxr-x 2 ftp ftp 512 Jul 22 2009 rc > drwxrwxr-x 2 ftp ftp 512 Jul 30 2009 test > -rwxrw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 23320016 Aug 31 2009 thredds.war > > > and I can't find a similar war file in the thredds/4.3 area: > ftp> cd /pub/thredds/4.3/4.3.15 > ftp> ls > -rwxrw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 29392690 Dec 18 19:30 thredds.war > -rwxrw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 32 Dec 18 19:30 thredds.war.md5 > -rwxrw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 40 Dec 18 19:30 thredds.war.sha1 > > If this doesn't exist, it would be great to put it on the "to-do" list. > > I know the NetCDF-Java ToolsUI route of testing these feature types > (outlines, for example in the "will my dataset work?" section of: > <https://github.com/asascience-open/ncSOS/wiki> > but a web-based service would be very helpful. > > Thanks, > Rich > -- > Dr. Richard P.
