Hello,

I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with the MATLAB interface to netCDF. You might have 
better luck contacting MATLAB support at Mathworks and see if they are able to 
give you directions for using their software to access COSMIC data.

I'm sorry I can't provide a more immediately useful response, but hopefully
