There's an FAQ on this: Why do I get an error message when I try to create a file larger than 2 GiB with the new library? http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/docs/faq.html#Large%20File%20Support12 that has a few reasons this could occur that are not releated to netCDF and a test using the dd utility that determines whether the file system you're on supports large files. Is it possible you are using an older version of IDL built with just netCDF-3 support? You're right that netCDF-4 files should not have any practical file size limits. --Russ Russ Rew UCAR Unidata Program address@hidden http://www.unidata.ucar.edu Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: UVF-292234 Department: Support netCDF Priority: Normal Status: Closed
