[netCDF #TXX-867549]: netcdf (4.3.1.1) :error while compiling with xlc

Wow- malloc failure; no idea where that
is coming from. Unfortunately, we do not
have access to an AIX machine, so we are
unlikely to be able to duplicate. If you
have the valgrind program, you might use it
and see what errors it reports.
