If this is happening to you, you need to consult your sysadmin or system documentation to reconfigure your system. Test this by running the following commands in the same directory you built netCDF in: dd if=/dev/zero bs=1000000 count=3000 of=./largefile ls -l largefile rm largefile This should write a 3 GByte file named "largefile" in the current directory, verify its size, and remove it.
