[netCDF #UFN-957034]: Netcdf installation failure

Here are user reports of successful builds with ifort on Mac OS X 10.5:

Rather than he "3.6.2 snapshot release" mentioned there, you could use the
netCDF version 3.6.3 release from June 2008:

  ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-3.6.3.tar.gz

Also, I recommend not using the "--enable-64-bit" configure option, as it is
not needed for making use of the 64-bit offset format variant for large files,
and it has not been tested on most platforms.  That option is not yet supported
for the configure script in versions 3.6.3 and later.
