I am used to using Linux and have successfully used netcdf f90 there for several years in a variety of codes, but now I need to be able to port my code to windows (I am new to programming in a windows environment). I have looked at the precompiled binaries available online but the latest releases do not include the f90 or even f77 interfaces, and I can't even get the f77 interface to work on my machine from the older releases (for example, netcdf-3.5.1-win32dll.zip is recommended, but it does not include the netcdf.lib file needed for linking). The only windows fortran implementation that has worked so far is the one from a user contribution: > http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/docs/other-builds.html#ifort-361-windows > Unfortunately, this does not include the f90 interface. > > My question is thus of a general nature, but I would appreciate some thoughts on it: > What would be the easiest way for me to get the netcdf f90 interface working on a windows machine with ifort? > > I realize that a windows platform is not supported, but am hoping that you can at least point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for any help on this. > > Best Regards, > Peter Israelsson > > Howdy! What you want has been done (for a 3.6.1 beta release). See here: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/docs/other-builds.html#windows_ifort_f90 NetCDF is supported by only one full-time programmer (though we are about to go to two) and support netCDF F90 on windows has not yet me squeezed into my work schedule! ;-) If I was going to try it I would think that doing it within cygwin would be easiest. (NetCDF builds out of the box on cygwin). NetCDF is a community supported free software product, and we ask that any porting you make to new platforms be made available to the community. If you can reduce the build process to a configuration file and a set of instructions, with a pre-built set of binaries, I would be delighted to make that available to other users! Thanks!
