Hi Yvonne, There are two ways to set environment variables, depending on which shell you are using. See: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/docs/netcdf-install/Specifying-the-Environment-for-Building.html In summary, since you are apparently using csh, you will need to use something like setenv CXX g++ before running "make clean" and rerunning the "configure" script. Note there is no "=" symbol in csh syntax for setting environment variables.
