The file "macros.make" is created by the "configure" script.  Was this
script executed before the make(1) utility was executed?  If not, then
please try the following:

    1.  Go to the top-level source directory

    2.  Perform steps 3 through 5 of

        Example environment variables settings for Solaris systems
        can be found at

        Chose the example that is appropriate for your system.

    3.  Perform steps 6 through 9 of
