Some versions of Netscape Navigator report this error when attempting to download .jar files, because they assume the .jar file is being used to update a plug-in. Either shift-click the link, or use the mouse to right-click (or left-click for a right handed mouse) on the link and choose "Save Link As..." (Netscape) or "Save Target As" (IE). If none of these work, you may also have to disable 'smart update' in the browser preferences first. I've updated the netCDF-Java page to make this more explicit.
