Not formally, although we have been using the term continuously in
publications and software distributions since 1988, and I'm certain we
have rights to it as a trademark arising from actual use.  But Unidata
is not a business and hence we have never bothered to claim netCDF as a
trademark.

Definitely not.

If it were a trademark, it would be owned by the University Corporation
for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colorado (UCAR).
