Sorry, I was not clear. That .nc file that you have and already exists was (it appears) written using the netcdf-3 format. That is why you get the message > java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: ucar.nc2.jni.netcdf.Nc4Iosp failed, > cannot use version netcdf4 You will need to write a new netcdf-4 file by: 1. creating it from scratch or 2. using the nccopy program to convert the existing netcdf-3 file to an equivalent netcdf-4 file. Alternatively, of course, you can try writing the attribute as a 32 bit integer rather than 64 bit, but that depends on what you are trying to do. =Dennis Heimbigner Unidata Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: LOO-265831 Department: Support netCDF Java Priority: Normal Status: Open =================== NOTE: All email exchanges with Unidata User Support are recorded in the Unidata inquiry tracking system and then made publicly available through the web.
