Hi Matthew, I've created a GitHub issue that explains the situation pretty well [1]. There's no good reason for the current behavior, other than it was much more convenient to stage the edits in the CDM objects. You don't see this behavior in Python or Matlab because they make the edits directly to the file using the native C library, rather than staging the edits in an intermediate data model and then completely rewriting. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, -Christian [1] https://github.com/Unidata/thredds/issues/791 Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: LHS-725131 Department: Support netCDF Java Priority: Normal Status: Closed =================== NOTE: All email exchanges with Unidata User Support are recorded in the Unidata inquiry tracking system and then made publicly available through the web.
