There is nothing that needs 'root' privilege to build or install McIDAS
v2020. 'root' is needed, however, to setup remote ADDE access on the
installation machine.

I think you should be able to do exactly this.

The McBASI script is designed to expect/require that the various channels
needed to do the composite are from an ADDE dataset where the channels
are specified using the BAND= keyword. The script could be modified
to use individual bands directly, but this would take a bit of work.
The ADDE datasets that I listed in my previous reply all make the
individual files look like they come from multibanded imagery.
This can be seen with the following examples:

If you want to use images from your own ADDE server (which, remember
can be local), I can guide you through setting up ADDE descriptors
