Hi again, re: > I had just installed IDV, is it unable to handle .hdf files or is > there a plug-in i need to install to allow it to read? There is no plug-in for the IDV for HDF files. Please try McIDAS-V to see if it gives you the access you need. I'm curious about the scope of your use of imagery in HDF files. Do you have a few images that you want to investigate, or is this an ongoing need? The reason I ask is that McIDAS-X can serve imagery in select HDF files, and both the IDV and McIDAS-V can access that data via the McIDAS-X remote ADDE server. If, for instance, you only have a "few" (a nebulous concept, I know) images, then we could host them for you here. If, on the other hand, you will be wanting to access images in HDF format routinely, then I would recommend that McIDAS-X be installed on a Linux machine at UAlbany (McIDAS-X has been run there before, so this is not totally new), and you access those images from either IDV or McIDAS-V.
