Hi Sohail,

How did you define the ADDE dataset for your FY2G images? The easiest
way to answer this is to either send the DSSERVE command you ran, or
do a
DSSERVE LIST group
where:
group - the ADDE group name you specified when running DSSERVE to create
the dataset definition

McIDAS understands images that are in AREA file format.

Which files did you check? I looked at the contents of the AREA3000
file you attached, and it is in GVAR format. When I looked at
FY2G_2015_08_06_03_00_E_PJ8, I could see that it is _not_ in AREA
format, and I couldn't tell exactly what format it is in.
re:

I can use (IMGLIST, IMGDISP, etc.) the AREA files you sent. My procedure
was:
<as 'mcidas'>
cd workdata
mkdir FY2G
-- extract the AREA files you sent to the /home/mcidas/workdata/FY2G directory
DSSERVE ADD SOHAIL/AREA AREA DIRFILE=/home/mcidas/workdata/FY2G/AREA3* "AREA
FILES FROM SOHAIL
Group/Descriptor Type Format & Range RT Comment
------------------------ ----- ------------------ -- --------------------
SOHAIL/AREA IMAGE AREA AREA FILES FROM SOHAIL
DIRFILE=/home/mcidas/workdata/FY2G/AREA3*
DSSERVE: done
IMGLIST SOHAIL/AREA.ALL
Image file directory listing for:SOHAIL/AREA
Pos Satellite/ Date Time Center Band(s)
sensor Lat Lon
--- ------------- ------------ -------- ---- ---- ------------
1 G-13 IMG 19 SEP 17262 01:15:00 14 72 4
2 G-13 IMG 19 SEP 17262 03:15:00 14 72 4
IMGLIST: done
Since I don't know what format the FY2G_2015* files are in, I don't
have enough information to create an ADDE dataset for them. Also, it
is entirely possible that your FY2G files are in a format that
McIDAS does not understand.
Cheers,
Tom
