My strong recommendation is that if you want to access the GOES-16 ADDE server from Windows, use the IDV instead of McIDAS-X. Getting McIDAS-X to work on Windows is a multi-step undertaking that is not straightforward. Downloading and running the IDV on Windows, on the other hand, is a piece of cake!
