The only thing that I can think of right off is that your session is not configured with enough frames to handle the default settings of the MCGUI. If you have not already done so, try running the '-config' option of the McIDAS startup script: mcidas -config and make sure that there are about 20 frames. Please let me know if this was or was not the cause of the problem that you are experiencing.
