Hi Gilbert, Here are a couple of tests to run that might help clarify what is going on: - run McIDAS as the user who is logged onto the system console (i.e., 'sebenste') This should run with no problems as that user will own the X environment. - instead of becoming 'mcidas' via an 'su -', try using a tunneled SSH login: ssh -XY mcidas@<your machine> Again, we don't experience the problems you are seeing on any of our workstations here.
