Hi Mary Ellen, re: > I am trying to view data from an IMGCOPY command that I wrote out in netCDF > file format. I am unable to view in either grads or Mcidas. I don't know about GRADS, but I can tell you that McIDAS has no capability (meaning ADDE server) for _reading_ satellite imagery in netCDF format. Question: - have you tried using the IDV to see if it can display the netCDF image you created? re: > DSSERVE ADD NETCDF/GOES NCDF 5000 5009 TYPE=IMAGE > > IMGCOPY MEC/G15.1 NETCDF/GOES.1 LATLON=23 157 SIZE=1400 1600 PLACE=CENTER > BAND=4 MAG=4 DOC=YES > > Attached is the screen shot of the error message from McIDAS. In Grads I > can't use > sdfopen GOES0001.nc because it says it has no "X-dimension" I'm sorry that I can't shed any light on GRADS-related things. Comment: - the error shown in the screen shot you attached is: IMGDISP: AGETSERV failed on exec of ncdfaget This is essentially saying that there is no ADDE AGET server for images in netCDF format. This, in turn, means that McIDAS-X does not support displaying of images in netCDF format. Musing: I was somewhat surprised when SSEC created a netCDF output server but did not then build the corresponding server for input (list and/or display). I seem to recall that the output server was written so that users could convert images in AREA format to netCDF so they could be used in AWIPS. Question: - do you have an example image that you could send me/make available so I could play around with it in the IDV? Also, if we had an example image, we could test to see if AWIPS-II is capable of displaying it.
