Hi Paul,

Quick note to rescind the last comment I made previously:

- since the mapping from original value in the image to "calibrated unit"
  (dBZ in this case) is not fixed, your results should vary (i.e., not
  be consistent) 

Since the stretch table you are creating maps dBZ to brightness, it
should be consistent.

Sorry for the misinformation...
