Hi Martha, re: > From looking at the UNIDATA website and the SSEC website, it looks > to me as if you (UNIDATA) have continued with the 2009 designation for > your Mcidas distributions while SSEC has cont inued to update the date > of the distribution(2009, 2010, 2011, etc). Is this correct? Correct. re: > Also, we are currently running 2009 UNIDATA 090710 which has a > distribution date of 2009-08-05. So you can see we are way behind the > curve. Yes, you are missing a number of addenda. re: > However, if I understand it correctly, the subsequent UNIDATA > distributions carry with them all the previous modifications and > corrections so that if we get your latest and greatest, we will have all > the previous code mods and additions and will only need to up date with > 2009i(?), which is equivalent to SSEC 2011.1. Am I correct about that? You are correct. Comments: - Unidata McIDAS v2009i (which I hope to release today or tomorrow) contains almost all SSEC modifications from their v2010.x and 2011.1. The only mods that are missing are to the makefile; those mods implement the ability to compile subsets of the code without linking against X libraries. I believe that this was done so that they could compile ADDE servers in a Cygwin environment under Windows and then bundle the executables with McIDAS-V (which is SSEC's version of IDV with additions and modifications). I am planning on adding the makefile mods and releasing Unidata McIDAS v2009j sometime in January. - SSEC updated several of the ancillary packages bundled with McIDAS-X either in their v2011.1 or v2010.x releases. I updated those packages in Unidata McIDAS v2009i. These changes will require that a site completely rebuild the package from scratch. The addendum page that describes the v2009i update will have complete details and step-by-step insructions. re: > Thanks. No worries.
