Boris Vladimir Comi Gonzalez > Centro de Ciencias de la Atmosfera > Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México Very good. I have added you (email address address@hidden) to the list of non-.edu users allowed to download Unidata McIDAS. The procedure to get the distribution is: - get your system administrator to create the user 'mcidas' on a *nix (Unix or Linux) system. Make sure that this user is allocated enough disk space to download and build Unidata McIDAS-X (at least 500 MB) - login to your machine as the user 'mcidas' From a web browser: - login to the Unidata website using the address that was allowed: address@hidden - go to the Downloads page for McIDAS - click on the 'v2009 Unix Source Code Distribution' link - download the following files to the home directory of 'mcidas': mcunpack mcinet2009.sh mcidasx2009.tar.gz - set execute permission on the script 'mcunpack': chmod +x mcunpack - define the McINST_ROOT environment variable: C Shell users: setenv McINST_ROOT /home/mcidas <- assuming that /home/mcidas is the HOME directory for the user 'mcidas' Bourne or BASH users: export McINST_ROOT=/home/mcidas Then follow the instructions for building McIDAS-X found in the Unidata McIDAS Users Guide: Unidata HomePage http://www.unidata.ucar.edu Software http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software McIDAS http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/mcidas Documentation and Training http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/mcidas/#documentation McIDAS user's guide http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/mcidas/current/users_guide/toc.html Follow the step-by-step instructions in: Installing McIDAS-X on Unix or Mac OS X Workstations http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/mcidas/current/users_guide/InstallingMcIDAS-XonUnixorMacOSXWorkstations.html#63755 The instructions in 'Preparing the Workstation' may be pertinent to your systems administrator. The instructions in 'Preparing the McIDAS Account' are aimed at building Unidata McIDAS-X. Please let me know if you have any problems accessing the McIDAS distribution or in building the package.
