Hi Kwan, re: > I am taking the first try on installing McIDAS in my local Linux account. > But as it was > beginning to build zlib, I got an error. Thanks for including the makelog and .cshrc files and a listing of the environment in place when the error occurred... The failure lines in makelog (two instances of the same thing): ar libz.a adler32.o compress.o crc32.o gzio.o uncompr.o deflate.o trees.o zutil.o inf late.o infblock.o inftrees.o infcodes.o infutil.o inffast.o ar: illegal option -- z coupled with environment variables that probably should not be set for a McIDAS build: AR=ar ... ARFLAGS=crv suggest that there may be conflicting environment variable definitions in-scope when the build was attempted. To be sure of this assumption, please send me the output of: uname -a which ar cat ~/mcidas2009/zlib/Makefile Cheers, Tom -- **************************************************************************** Unidata User Support UCAR Unidata Program (303) 497-8642 P.O.
