Hi Sepide,

Meaning USB drives that you plug in and are auto-mounted?

The external hard drive should be accessible through /mnt/GOESdata.
mnt/GOESdata is a relative directory path, not an absolute one.

It does not make any sense that you can create directories when
CDed to the external drive, but not when you are in the 'mcidas'
HOME directory. Please send me the output of:

<as 'mcidas'>
cd /home/mcidas
ls -alt /mnt
mkdir -p /mnt/GOESdata

Do this, of course, when your hard drive is already mounted.

re:
> how should i handle the redirect command here?

The same way. The McIDAS command doesn't create output directories.
Rather, it updates a table used by McIDAS (LWPATH.NAM) that tells
McIDAS routines where to read/write files whose names match the
file mask portion of the REDIRECT in the location specified
by the directory portion of the REDIRECT.

I don't know what this means. Can you explain further?

Cheers,

Tom
