The raw to dBz conversion is defined in the Level II ICD, and they are different for the "low resolution" (e.g., NxR) and "high resolution" (e.g., NxQ) products. I commented previously that adjusting the raw-dBz mapping so that there was a match to the old products might be possible, but it would open up the possibility of unintended errors. On top of that, it looks like the Weather Service will be adopting a new set of enhancements for the "high resolution" products, and I feel that it would be wise for McIDAS displays of those same products look like other displays of the same products.
