Hi Hsie, After lots of trial and error, I succeeded in building McIDAS-X v2007 on stratus using the -xarch-amd64 flag. Today I will be integrating the changes that I had to make into the an updated McIDAS distribution. v2007d. The next item that needs addressing is building of ldm-mcidas decoders, mainly nldn2md and proftomd, in the same environment on stratus. In order to do this, I will be working on building ldm-mcidas v2006/7 on stratus at some point today, tonight, or tomorrow. In the meantime, we can start testing local data processing on stratus (your original goal). The only products that would be missing from the mix would be: - NLDN lightning data (which is not open for sharing anyway) - NOAA wind profiler data All IDD-delivered imagery can be used/served in Unidata McIDAS in their compressed broadcast format; there is no need to uncompress them (using ldm-mcidas decoders pnga2area, pngg2gini, or zlibg2gini) UNLESS the images will be used by applications other than Unidata McIDAS and GEMPAK (GEMPAK, like McIDAS, can use the compressed imagery directly). Please let me know how you would like to proceed at this point.
