I think we need to modify the "mccomp" program. I ran into the same problem when I first began putting together my v2007 release. I modified the 'makefile' to pass along CFLAGS on SunOS; I will have to look more closely at FFLAGS settings. Have you tried building all packages (LDM, McIDAS, and ldm-mcidas) with the GNU gcc and g77 compilers? It may solve your problem in an easier manner.
