[McIDAS #TKF-554893]: Default compression

Yes, but there is a (decreasingly small) chance that some ADDE servers
are still running a pre-gzip version of McIDAS.  SSEC started warning
MUG members that they should upgrade to a recent version of McIDAS
about 4 years ago, so the number of servers that don't support gzip
compression should be vanishingly small.

Sites running a version of McIDAS that supports gzip will have
gzip/gunzip since it is bundled with McIDAS.  McIDAS does not
rely on gzip/gunzip being installed in the OS.

I believe that all NOAA/NESDIS servers have been upgraded to a
version of McIDAS that supports gzip.  The only site that I
had run into where gzip compressed transfers didn't work was
NASA's MODIS server, nanuk.eosdis.nasa.gov, but that server
has been upgraded.
