Hi Robert, > Tom, Here is the output from: > >LWU LIST AREA1234 192 224 > > /usr2/config% lwu.k LIST AREA0001 192 224 > 192. 541348432 0 HEX: 20445250 0 ASCII: PRD > 194. 255 0 HEX: FF 0 ASCII: > 196. 255 0 HEX: FF 0 ASCII: > 198. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 200. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 202. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 204. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 206. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 208. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 210. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 212. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 214. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 216. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 218. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 220. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 222. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > 224. 0 0 HEX: 0 0 ASCII: > --END OF LISTING OK. This listing shows that the AREA file in question does not have a calibration that maps brightness to temperature. In order to get the mapping you want, you will have to add a PRD calibration to the image using PRDUTIL. Please note that whatever you do, you will be assuming you know how SATEPS composite was created. I am not terribly worried about this given that they use standard McIDAS routines to create a large fraction of their products. I advise you to use the standard two part GOES/GVAR IR calibration as listed in IRTEMP.ST: SU LIST IRTEMP BREAKPOINTS STORED IN TABLE : IRTEMP.ST INPUT OUTPUT ----- ------ 163 255 241.9999 177 242 176 330 0 CALIBRATION TYPE : GVAR CALIBRATION UNITS : TEMP BAND NUMBER : -1 INTERPOLATION TYPE: LIN SU: DONE Cheers, Tom **************************************************************************** Unidata User Support UCAR Unidata Program (303) 497-8642 P.O.
