20051102: request for access to SATEPS ADDE servers (cont.)

Hi Oana,

re: nanuk.eosdis.nasa.gov should have all of the MODIS data; I will try
to get a contact/more info

>I will wait for your answer!

I got a comment back from a friend at SSEC:

I did a quick check for the last 2 days. There should be 288 granules
each day. Yesterday there were 276 and a couple days ago only 197.
There was a hardware problem early this week.

For the last couple of months the number of missing granules in the
polar region is generally less than 5 granules each day. Also, there
are a few granules each day that do not have geolocation due to the
  way their processing is done.

Can you continue to check nanuk to see if the morning pass over Romania
continues to be missing?

re: DATALOC ADD PUB gp16.ssd.nesdis.noaa.gov; is it useful

>All data I could find is GOES and METEOSAT. No NOAA.
>So, which is the next step?
>As I told you before we have a NOAA receiving station, but it is not
>working. We hope that this problem will be fixed in the future, but we don't
>know exctly when.

I asked around to see if there was an ADDE site other than SATEPS
that has global NOAA POES data and makes it accessible, but the answer
I got back was:

  I'm not aware of any....

>Waiting for your help,

I will contact NOAA/SATEPS again to see if they will send you (NAM) the
form to request access to their server.

I also sent off an email to an old friend at the Instituto Nacional de
Meteorologia in Spain asking if he knows of a site in Europe that is
receiving NOAA POES data for your area AND is willing to give you
ADDE access to it. I will let you know what I find out (he may not
be the appropriate contact).

Cheers,

Tom
