Hi all, I've been downloading a lot of Level 1B MODIS data from the NASA DAAC ftp site. I'm just wondering if there's a way to use McIDAS and the DSSERVE command to mount the DAAC ftp site into McIDAS, and do the channel and spatial sub-setting directly from there, rather than downloading the 327 MB files and *then* doing the subsetting? thanks, Andrew Tupper Senior Meteorologist Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre Bureau of Meteorology, Australia Mobile / Cell Phone: + 61 (0)418-110182 Phone: +61 8 8920 3867 http://www.bom.gov.au/info/vaac ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <address@hidden>. Perhaps the MODIS DAAC would be a candidate for this service? But, they may have some IP address restrictions in place. Also, they're running older versions of the servers, so you need to use an undocumented option to get to the data: You need to append MCC=500 to all your ADDE commands. DATALOC ADD GDAAC G0DUG03U.ECS.NASA.GOV ========================== If you're interested in real-time data, there is another server: DATALOC ADD NANUK NANUK.EOSDIS.NASA.GOV This one should have open access, and you don't need to add MCC=500 to your commands. They may not be running at the same processing version at the DAAC, but the data are available within a few hours, instead of delayed by about a day. ========================== One other point: there is another error in the server where the satellite number is incorrect for Aqua MODIS. You will need to do an IMGCHA to correct this after you copy the data. [it's very difficult to update these servers, so we've had to live with these shortcomings] dave (Batson, Bryan) wrote: >At the 2004 MUG meeting, Dave Santek discussed the possibility of >non-McIDAS sites using ADDE to serve data without having a full McIDAS >installation.
