ADDE seems to be working fine, but if I try to use >newpsn as an ADDE server from my home machine (or any external machine) >I can't contact it. If ADDE access works internally through the remote interface, I would first assume that the firewall on the Linux box was setup to not allow McIDAS ADDE traffic from external IPs. >Ordinarily I would think that it might be a firewall >issue, but uldbldm.nsbf.nasa.gov is right beside it and behind the same >firewall and it has no issues. (same McIDAS version---2003 but on Solaris >8 SPARC). Linux has its own firewall setup that may be blocking access in addition to whatever organizational firewall that is in place. >I am not restricitng IP addresses anywhere (that I know of) and there is >no firewall installed on the box itself. Are you sure that there is no firewall installed on the Linux PC? The thing with RedHat Linux is that the installation process will setup a firewall unless you tell it not to. >If you need to poke around on that machine, the usernames and pw >have not changed since the last time. Are we talking about psnldm? If yes, the names/passwords I have are not valid (I tried).
