Kwan,
>It appears that McIDAS is now working fine.
Demons running around? :-)

OK, I logged onto halo and see that you are getting all of your
data through ADDE:
{-mcidas-} <-/usr/local/mcidas-> dataloc.k LIST
Group Name Server IP Address
-------------------- ----------------------------------------
AMRC UWAMRC.SSEC.WISC.EDU
CIMSS ADDE.UCAR.EDU
GINICOMP ADDE.UCAR.EDU
GINIEAST PSCWX.PLYMOUTH.EDU
GINIWEST PSCWX.PLYMOUTH.EDU
ME7 IO.SCA.UQAM.CA
MYDATA <LOCAL-DATA>
NEXRCOMP PSCWX.PLYMOUTH.EDU
RTGRIDS ADDE.UCAR.EDU
RTIMAGES ADDE.UCAR.EDU
RTNEXRAD ADDE.UCAR.EDU
RTPTSRC ADDE.UCAR.EDU
RTWXTEXT ADDE.UCAR.EDU
TOPO <LOCAL-DATA>
<LOCAL-DATA> indicates that data will be accessed from the local data directory.
DATALOC -- done
This is not a problem, but I would like to see you change the machines
you point; I am trying to level the load across the cooperating community
servers that you have access to. So, if you are not adverse to doing so,
I request that you do the following:
<login as 'mcidas'>
cd workdata
dataloc.k ADD GINICOMP pscwx.plymouth.edu
dataloc.k ADD GINIEAST atm.geo.nsf.gov
dataloc.k ADD GINIWEST papagayo.unl.edu
dataloc.k ADD CIMSS atm.geo.nsf.gov
dataloc.k ADD RTGRIDS atm.geo.nsf.gov
dataloc.k ADD RTIMAGES atm.geo.nsf.gov
dataloc.k ADD RTNEXRAD atm.geo.nsf.gov
dataloc.k ADD RTPTSRC atm.geo.nsf.gov
dataloc.k ADD RTWXTEXT atm.geo.nsf.gov
You will notice that the majority of changes are to point at
atm.geo.nsf.gov instead of adde.ucar.edu. The reason for this change
is that atm.geo.nsf.gov is closer to you, and it is being
underutilized.
You should make these same ADDE DATALOC changes in each user's account.
