20010216: 7.704 upgrade and NEXRAD ADDE configuration (cont.)

Since the dataset names are the same on your machine and adde.ucar.edu,
you have to issue a DATALOC to switch between the two:

-- access RTNEXRAD from adde.ucar.edu --
DATALOC ADD RTNEXRAD adde.ucar.edu

-- access RTNEXRAD from weather.admin.niu.edu --
DATALOC ADD RTNEXRAD weather.admin.niu.edu

If you want to be able to access some stations from your machine and others
from adde.ucar.edu, you will need to setup a dataset for the NEXRAD products
on your machine using a different name than the one used on adde.ucar.edu.
This is what I alluded to in an earlier email.  This is easy to do, but
you will have to remember which dataset is where.

There are a couple of ways you can go about creating a dataset of a
different name on weather:

o run a set of DSSERVE commands to setup the dataset

o change the name of the RTNEXRAD dataset directly

You would do the steps for either option as the user 'mcidas'

For the first option, I would:

cd ~mcidas/data
cp DSSERVE.BAT NIUNEXR.BAT
<edit NIUNEXR.BAT and:
 o remove all DSSERVE lines that do not relate to NEXRAD data>
 o change the dataset group name for the remaining DSSERVE lines
   to something other than RTNEXRAD
 o change the INFO= entry from NNEXRAD.CFG to NIUNEXR.CFG (to match
   the current setup on weather)
cd ~mcidas/workdata
batch.k NIUNEXR.BAT

For the second option, I would:

cd ~mcidas/workdata
<edit RESOLV.SRV (use a wide screen for your editor) and:

o change all of the references to RTNEXRAD to whatever you want to call
  your local dataset.  For example,

change:

N1=RTNEXRAD, ...

to:

N1=NIUNEXR, ...


NOTES:

1) the length of the group portion of the dataset you decide to create
   MUST be less than or equal to 8 characters  (this sucks, but...)

2) if you decide to edit RESOLV.SRV, be _very_ careful to not change
   anything except RTNEXRAD to your dataset group name.  Commas are
   very important including the trailing one on each line!

OK. That is what I will do (makes life easy).

Yes it was. Thanks!!! Also, tell others I do have all the BREF1 data, but
only surrounding sites have a complete compliment of data. When I get a
fatter pipeline into the U, and a larger disk drive this fall, then we'll
suck in more!
