Robert,
Sorry that I didn't respond to this when it came in, but I saw GEMPAK
in the Subject line and stopped reading.
>Sorry to bombard with so many questions, but the place
>we are going to in Sweden is Kiruna. They issue a METAR ob and I
>get can get the METAR ob from GEMPAK but not through McIDAS.

>ESNQ 02044 KIRUNA AIRPORT -- SN 6782 2033 452

>Is this simply a matter of a station not being in the McIDAS
>station list, if so is it possible for me to add it?
I just used MSL to check on the availability of Kiruna in IDMSL:
MSL ESNQ
IDN ID STATION NAME DATA TYPES ST CO LAT LON ELEV
020440 ESNQ KIRUNA AIRPORT T SN 67:49N 020:20E 452
MSL: DONE
The next thing was to check to see if it is MASTERID.DAT:
IDU LIST ESNQ
Idn Id Lat Lon Ele St Co Description
020440 ESNQ 67.82 -20.33 452 SN KIRUNA AIRPORT
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SYNOPTIC: all circuits
TERMFCST: all circuits
So, the station is there and, given the output from IDU, it should be being
decoded for synoptic and terminal forecasts (at least on our machine).
I tried listing out decoded values for ESNQ, but found none; this I can't
explain. I was able, however, to use WXTLIST to find the raw text reports
from it:
WXTLIST MATCH='ESNQ'
Using the default value of DTIME= 1.00 hours

Sorry I can't be of more help. Plus, I am heading to the airport to
leave for Australia in a little over an hour.
