>From: weather <address@hidden> >Organization: NMSU/NSBF >Keywords: 199910201830.MAA01852 McIDAS IDMSL Robert, Sorry that I didn't respond to this when it came in, but I saw GEMPAK in the Subject line and stopped reading. >Sorry to bombard with so many questions, but the place >we are going to in Sweden is Kiruna. They issue a METAR ob and I >get can get the METAR ob from GEMPAK but not through McIDAS. >Here is the station info: > >ESNQ 02044 KIRUNA AIRPORT -- SN 6782 2033 452 > >Is this simply a matter of a station not being in the McIDAS >station list, if so is it possible for me to add it? I just used MSL to check on the availability of Kiruna in IDMSL: MSL ESNQ IDN ID STATION NAME DATA TYPES ST CO LAT LON ELEV 020440 ESNQ KIRUNA AIRPORT T SN 67:49N 020:20E 452 MSL: DONE The next thing was to check to see if it is MASTERID.DAT: IDU LIST ESNQ Idn Id Lat Lon Ele St Co Description 020440 ESNQ 67.82 -20.33 452 SN KIRUNA AIRPORT -------------------------------------------------------------------- SYNOPTIC: all circuits TERMFCST: all circuits So, the station is there and, given the output from IDU, it should be being decoded for synoptic and terminal forecasts (at least on our machine). I tried listing out decoded values for ESNQ, but found none; this I can't explain. I was able, however, to use WXTLIST to find the raw text reports from it: WXTLIST MATCH='ESNQ' Using the default value of DTIME= 1.00 hours SASN31 KWBC 281920 RRA 1999301 1932 METAR ESDF 281920Z 27006KT 250V310 9999 BKN025 09/06 Q1015= ESGP 281920Z 27016KT CAVOK 10/07 Q1015= ESMX 26010KT 220V300 9999 FEW018 08/06 Q1014= ESNN 01003KT 0500S R16/0650 R34/0900 BCFG FEW001 M01/M02 Q1000= ESNQ 281920Z 19013KT 9999 SCT010 BKN053 M00/M03 Q0982= ESNU 281920Z 22005KT CAVOK 02/M01 Q0994= ESOK 281920Z 27007KT CAVOK 07/01 Q1009= WXTLIST: done Sorry I can't be of more help. Plus, I am heading to the airport to leave for Australia in a little over an hour. Tom
