[I'm answering this question in case someone sees something similar.]
The significant lines in Typhoon's LDM log file are these:
20181010T190829.535549Z ldmd[44015] NOTE ldmd.c:306:signal_handler() SIGTERM
received
20181010T190829.535672Z ldmd[44015] NOTE ldmd.c:187:cleanup() Exiting
20181010T190829.537435Z ldmd[44015] NOTE ldmd.c:258:cleanup() Terminating
process group
They indicate that someone or something sent the top-level LDM server a
SIGTERM, which caused the LDM to terminate.
