Hi Carissa, > Why in our case would FILE possibly be better? Good question. I'm not sure I can give you a definitive answer, however. The STDIOFILE action was written by my late LDM predecessor, Glenn Davis, for reasons that are now lost. Based on my understanding of standard I/O, however, I believe that the FILE action will actually do less copying of the data into buffers than the STDIOFILE action; consequently, it should be faster. I haven't tested this hypothesis, however, which is why I asked if you could. Don't do it if it would compromise or risk something -- and please keep me apprised.
