Carol, Tabs are relevant only in pqact(1) configuration-files. They make no difference in the LDM configuration-file, $LDMHOME/etc/ldmd.conf. An ALLOW host-ID pattern that matches IP addresses should only be used if the hostname can't be resolved, e.g., if the command "dig host.domain" fails. You can use notifyme(1) to quickly test whether one LDM can connect to another: notifyme -vl- -h host.domain You can use telnet(1) to test whether one host can connect to another using the LDM port, 388: telnet host.domain 388 > We're still not connecting. > > Both servers have ALLOW entries for each other with the correct tabs > etc. Do you think having the actually IP address is better then just > putting the hostname? In theory, it shouldn't matter correct? > > ALLOW EXP ^xxx\.xxx\.xxx$ Regards, Steve Emmerson Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: HXE-144514 Department: Support LDM Priority: Normal Status: Closed =================== NOTE: All email exchanges with Unidata User Support are recorded in the Unidata inquiry tracking system and then made publicly available through the web.
