Hi Gilbert and Steve, re: > Just FYI, this anti-DOS feature can also be disabled by setting > the registry parameter "/server/enable-anti-DOS" to "FALSE". For example, > > regutil -s FALSE /server/enable-anti-DOS > > The default value of this parameter is TRUE. After letting LDM v6.10.1 run overnight (with no problems), I stopped it this morning, changed the runtime link to point at v6.12.9, edited ~ldm/etc/registry.xml and added the anti-DOS <server> tag, and restarted. When I took a look at load averages about 20 minutes later, they had risen to 7 and the top CPU users were 'ldmd's: top - 09:18:30 up 4 days, 16:12, 1 user, load average: 7.02, 6.88, 5.03 Tasks: 199 total, 8 running, 191 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 87.6%us, 0.1%sy, 0.0%ni, 12.3%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st Mem: 6096936k total, 5010388k used, 1086548k free, 256840k buffers Swap: 8388600k total, 0k used, 8388600k free, 4338016k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 27397 ldm 25 0 1204m 2500 1376 R 100.0 0.0 20:25.93 ldmd 27459 ldm 25 0 1204m 2468 1360 R 100.0 0.0 19:22.15 ldmd 27463 ldm 25 0 1204m 2392 1352 R 100.0 0.0 19:22.71 ldmd 27464 ldm 25 0 1204m 2392 1356 R 100.0 0.0 19:22.71 ldmd 27465 ldm 25 0 1204m 2520 1356 R 100.0 0.0 19:22.63 ldmd 27467 ldm 25 0 1204m 2440 1356 R 100.0 0.0 19:21.21 ldmd 27466 ldm 25 0 1204m 2512 1352 R 99.8 0.0 19:21.48 ldmd I then stopped the LDM (I had to kill the 'ldmd' processes by hand and delete and remake the LDM queue to), switched the runtime link back to v6.10.1 and restarted. The load averages returned to their low values: top - 09:25:15 up 4 days, 16:19, 1 user, load average: 0.91, 4.47, 4.78 Tasks: 199 total, 1 running, 198 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 0.3%us, 0.7%sy, 0.0%ni, 98.5%id, 0.0%wa, 0.2%hi, 0.4%si, 0.0%st Mem: 6096936k total, 5025332k used, 1071604k free, 258056k buffers Swap: 8388600k total, 0k used, 8388600k free, 4338016k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 29332 ldm 16 0 1199m 232m 231m S 1.0 3.9 0:00.20 ldmd 29338 ldm 16 0 1199m 110m 109m S 1.0 1.8 0:00.59 ldmd 29249 ldm 16 0 1198m 110m 109m S 0.7 1.9 0:01.08 rtstats 29254 ldm 15 0 1199m 230m 229m S 0.7 3.9 0:00.53 ldmd 29274 ldm 16 0 1199m 110m 109m S 0.7 1.9 0:00.84 ldmd 29337 ldm 16 0 1199m 110m 109m S 0.7 1.8 0:00.58 ldmd 4059 root 16 0 10256 704 608 S 0.3 0.0 0:27.20 hald-addon-stor 11222 root 15 0 0 0 0 S 0.3 0.0 0:00.58 pdflush 29251 ldm 15 0 1231m 261m 240m S 0.3 4.4 0:00.73 ldmd 29253 ldm 15 0 1199m 171m 170m S 0.3 2.9 0:00.84 ldmd 29266 ldm 16 0 1199m 110m 109m S 0.3 1.9 0:00.87 ldmd 29268 ldm 16 0 1199m 240m 239m S 0.3 4.0 0:00.53 ldmd 29342 ldm 16 0 1199m 110m 109m S 0.3 1.8 0:00.57 ldmd My surmise from yesterday afternoon appears to stand.
