It's unlikely that the output of the command "ps -ef | grep syslog" was 
"/var/run/syslog-ng.pid" because .pid files aren't executable. I'll assume 
you're running syslog-ng(8), however.

The latest LDM version (6.12.6) should support syslog-ng(8). Try installing it.
