Hi Heather, re: > I noticed that there is a new version of the ldm at > ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/ldm/ that was just put up yesterday. > > I hadn't heard anything about it, but is this the best version to use > right now? If you had to install an LDM _today_, then the answer is yes. If you can wait until Monday (sometime), then the answer is no especially if you intend to build/use the included NOAAPort ingest package. Hopefully by COB on Monday LDM v6.12.6 will be available for download. v6.12.6 includes a code mod from the NWS that will be needed to correctly process (categorize) the HRRR and ESTOFS model data that will be added to the NOAAPort SBN as early as September 23 (but we have seen at least one email that suggests that these data will be added in October). re: > I was hoping to build my new machines with the ldm and thredds and move > my novra as is (before expansion) to test. Will the ldm work with this? Yes. re: > I just want to make sure everything works the "old" way before transitioning > to the "new" way. It should work with no problems... we were using v6.12.5 on our test NOAAPort ingest machine during the recent stress tests of the new, expanded NOAAPort broadcast, and everything looked good. I would suggest that you wait until sometime on Monday so that you don't have to build and install the newer LDM version right after installing the current one. Given how easy it is to install the LDM, however, doing a new install would not be much of a chore (lots of folks like to install the latest version before the ink dries on its announcement). While I have your attention, I can tell you that we have already cut over to using LDM v6.12.6 on our two "operational" NOAAPort ingest machines. Assuming that there are no hiccups over the weekend, we will cut over to the new, expanded NOAAPort broadcast on these machines on Monday morning and then make an announcement to that effect to the ldm-users and noaaport email lists. re: > Thanks!
