Almost there but not quite. I suspect that the final installation wasn't done by "root" and that, consequently, the programs "~ldm/bin/ldmd" and "~ldm/bin/hupsyslog" aren't owned by "root" and setuid. Try changing to directory "~ldm/src" and executing, as "root", the command "make root-actions".
