Gilbert, I suspect that you only want to put the LDM queues (ldm.pq, pqsurf.pq) in "/dev/shm". Putting other local-state files in that directory (e.g., log files, metrics files) is probably not a good idea because the contents of that directory are transient and not persistent across reboots.
