We now have an LDM that makes 153 requests for individual station data from one 
of our aggregators.  Unfortunately, it works fine: every time I restart it 
(after deleting the .*.info files so that it has no memory of prior 
connections) it starts receiving data within 30 seconds.

We'll keep exploring.
