The .state files in the etc/ subdirectory keep track of the last data-product that was processed by the "pqact" process associated with the configuration-file with a similar name. They allow a "pqact" process started in a subsequent LDM session to pick up where the previous one left off. The files are updated when the LDM is terminated.
